Position: Host/Hostess
Location: Bargeway Pub, The Dalles, Oregon
Job Type: Full-time/Part-time
Job Summary: Bargeway Pub is looking for a friendly and organized Host/Hostess to be the first point of contact for our guests. You are the "Director of First Impressions," responsible for welcoming guests, managing the seating chart, and setting the pace for the entire restaurant. The ideal candidate is professional, articulate, and excellent at managing crowds.
Responsibilities:
Greet guests immediately upon arrival with a warm and professional demeanor.
Manage the waitlist and provide guests with accurate wait time estimates.
Seat guests at appropriate tables to ensure an even flow for the server rotations.
Manage phone calls, take reservations, and handle to-go order inquiries.
Maintain a clean and organized host stand and entryway.
Assist with light cleaning or bussing during transitions to keep the lobby clear.
Communicate effectively with management and servers regarding large parties or special requests.
Thank guests as they leave and invite them to return.
Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent.
Previous experience in customer service or a restaurant environment is preferred.
Excellent verbal communication and organizational skills.
Ability to remain calm and polite during high-volume periods.
Professional appearance and positive attitude.
Ability to stand for the duration of a shift.
Availability for nights, weekends, and holidays.
